Volunteering With Piedmont Tax Clinic
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Piedmont Tax Clinic is always open to those willing to volunteer their time and talents to the cause. We’ll outline the two major volunteer areas below, and if you’re interested you can reach out to us via the web form further down this page.
The Board of Advisors of Piedmont Tax Clinic is seeking interested persons for volunteer positions within the nonprofit. The Mission of Piedmont Tax Clinic is with a dedicated, certified team of enrolled agents, and attorneys, we are the community resource focused on making tax law accessible. We strive to help individuals and companies resolve their tax issues once and for all. The Vision of Piedmont Tax Clinic is to be the back pocket resource for CPAs, Bookkeepers, Tax Advisers, and Accountants when they have cases beyond their scopes of expertise. This allows us to aid more of the community with their tax concerns.
We envision a strong community, economy, and thriving city where the citizens are tax aware and tax compliant allowing them to protect their most valuable assets.
Volunteer Office Admin Responsibilities:
- Assist our board with office organization, phone management, and any odd jobs they may need.
- Terms of volunteer service no less than one (1) year in a volunteer role within our nonprofit.
- Communication with our team about messages from every call or visitor that you engage with.
- Empathy to our callers regardless of their pain, anger, or frustration about their tax situation.
- Attend activities of the organization to represent the organization, including fundraising events, board related events, meetings, or special trainings either in person or via conference call where applicable.
- Understand the importance of your volunteer efforts to our mission and vision as a whole community.
- Admin volunteers are needed from 10-2pm Monday through Friday. We request that our volunteers pick a shift they can do and stick with it for the year term.
- Every volunteer is responsible for aiding in the expansion in the non-profit’s efforts through strategic partnerships, clients, and community engagement/education events as often as possible.
- As an admin volunteer it is your responsibility to communicate with our team if you can’t make a shift no less than 24 hours in advance when possible. This will allow the board an opportunity to find a replacement for that shift.
- It is every volunteers responsibility to know our rules and regulations for conduct and professional expectation.
Volunteer Attorney Responsibilities:
- Participate in the discovery process with new clients that would need legal representation in the state of NC.
- Terms of volunteer service no less than one (1) year in a volunteer role within our nonprofit.
- Communication with our board leaders about the status of all cases that you are representing on our behalf to the NC court system.
- Communication with the clients you are representing to the NC court system about the status of their case as progress unfolds.
- Attend activities of the organization to represent the organization, including fundraising events, board related events, meetings, or special trainings either in person or via conference call where applicable.
- Understand the importance of your volunteer efforts to our mission and vision as a whole community.
- Every volunteer is expected to serve at minimum 2 clients on an annual basis to completion of their case.
- Every volunteer is responsible for aiding in the expansion in the non-profit’s efforts through strategic partnerships, clients, and community engagement/education events as often as possible.
- As a legal volunteer it is your responsibility to stay well-informed about tax law and policy changes.
- It is every volunteers responsibility to know our rules and regulations for conduct and professional expectation.
